Message from APEP President

For over two decades, our profession has faced a long and challenging struggle for formal recognition. Even after the Court of Appeals decision in October 2019 – which affirmed the right of Registered Master Plumbers (RMP) to sign and seal plumbing plans – the fight has not ended. Other Engineers continue to push for exclusive authority over plumbing works, and they are now pursuing legislative changes in Congress to include Plumbing within their scope of practice.

Recognizing the need for decisive action, we have forged an alternative path. A year ago, on this date, September 12, 2023, we officially registered our group with the Securities and Exchange Commission, signaling the start of a new chapter in our advocacy. Our primary mission is to Unify all Registered Master Plumbers who hold Engineer licenses and, together, pursue the formal recognition of Plumbing Engineers. I am pleased to share that we now boast over 380 Members, all committed to this cause.

We are proud to announce the development of the Certified Plumbing Engineers Program that will be offered as both a Career Progression and Specialization and for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and now a conducting a Certified Plumbing Engineer (CPE) Examination. This Program will not only enhance the expertise of our members but also solidify the Plumbing Engineer’s distinct role in the construction industry.

Much like how the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) is recognized in the U.S. and how Structural Engineers are acknowledged here through the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP), we firmly believe that the recognition of our profession can be achieved through the power of unity, ongoing professional development, and meaningful collaborations.

Thank you for your time and your participation in “Exploring the World of Plumbing Engineering.”

Let us join hands in this idea of Upgrading Ourselves and the future of Plumbing Engineering in our country.

Maraming Salamat at Mabuhay po Tayo.
